Kunstontmoetingen in het Museumpark met Ewald x Ros – een fijne oriëntatie en flinke dosis inspiratie
De tour start met een kort bezoek aan de tentoonstelling “In the Black Fantastic” in Kunsthal Rotterdam*, die werken van elf hedendaagse kunstenaars uit de Afrikaanse diaspora presenteert. Door middel van science fiction, spirituele tradities en Afro-Futurisme nodigen de kunstenaars ons uit om over onderwerpen als sociale ongelijkheid en racisme na te denken.
Na een wandeling door het park bezoeken we het dakterras van het Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen*, voor een fantastisch 3600 uitzicht op de stad en het zogenaamde Land van Hoboken, het huidige Museumpark. Terwijl we de trappen afdalen, hebben we zicht op enkele objecten in de vitrines. De tour gaat verder naar Het Nieuwe Instituut* en de tentoonstelling ‘Healing Sites’ die is gelieerd aan de Prix de Rome voor architectuur. Actuele onderwerpen als klimaatverandering en sociale ongelijkheid zijn belangrijke aspecten voor de gepresenteerde ontwerpen. Doordat maatschappelijke ontwikkelingen als het kapitalisme, het kolonialisme en ook imperialisme deels zichtbare, deels onzichtbare uitwerkingen kunnen hebben op onze gebouwde omgeving, is het spannend om te zien hoe jonge architecten daar in hun ontwerpen op reageren.
De grande finale van de Museum Park Art Walk is de opening van de laatste expositie ‘Departure’ bij Cokkie Snoei galerie. Hier nemen we afscheid met tips over de Rotterdamse kunstscene en/of fijne plekken voor een latere versnapering.

Art Encounters around Museumpark with Ewald x Ros – an excellent orientation and a good dose of inspiration
The tour starts at Kunsthal Rotterdam*, with a short visit ‘In the Black Fantastic’ exhibition with works by eleven contemporary artists from the African diaspora. With science fiction, spiritual traditions and Afro-Futurism, the artists invite us to reflect on social equality and racism.
After a stroll through the park, we’ll visit the roof of Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen*, offering a 3600 view over the city and the so-called Land van Hoboken which now is the Museumpark. Walking down the stairs, we glimpse at objects from the collection in vitrines. We continue with a visit to The New Institute*for the exhibition ‘Healing Sites’. This Prix de Rome for Architectureshow deals with topics of climate change and inequality that demand our attention. How do architects tackle these issues in their designs? Capitalism, colonialism, and imperialism have all been challenging, if not destroying ecosystems, while architecture is part of these phenomena.
As a grand finale, the tour brings us to an opening at Cokkie Snoei gallery for the last gallery exhibition, ‘Departure’. The guide will say goodbye here, sharing tips about the Rotterdam art scene or for delicious treats afterwards.
